Natural Law vs Naturalism


Something that seems to confuse a lot of people is when "natural law" is discussed in a theological context. Many people falsely believe this is a reference to what occurs in nature. In fact, this is naturalism, and often contradicts natural law. Natural Law is the highest end for which we were designed, and something common to all human beings, thus it is often referenced as a common point of understanding in philosophy, irrespective of interlocutors subjective positions.
